John R. Gburek, M.D.
Dr. Gburek was born in Buffalo, NY but spent his elementary school years as a Bee Cave Bobcat in the Austin suburbs. The remainder of his childhood was a tour of the Midwest: Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan. But he never forgot those mild Austin winters
In his higher education years, Dr. Gburek combined a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Medical Scholars Program at Michigan State University. He completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), in Chicago, Illinois, with a Fellowship in Chronic Pain Medicine.
Professionally, Dr. Gburek is highly trained in neurostimulation, an option for patients to control their chronic pain when the root cause cannot be removed or repaired. He also specializes in ultrasound and fluoroscopically guided injections, but that’s only part of his wheelhouse.
Taking a holistic approach to pain management, Dr. Gburek also welcomes discussion around spirituality, as well as mental and emotional health with those who desire. Ultimately, he wants to utilize his skills to empower his patients to focus on the people and things they care about, not their pain. In his free time, he likes to participate in water sports, play golf, and travel with his friends and family.
