What to Expect and What to Bring
Even if you’ve been to an Austin pain clinic before, it’s helpful to know what to expect during your pain consultation with DPC.
- The diagnostic stage. We believe the right pain treatment always starts with a proper diagnosis. It’s so important, we named our practice after it. During your first appointment, we extensively evaluate and critically analyze your pain, starting with a thorough patient history. We spend more time with our new patients, so we can clearly get to the root of what’s causing you trouble.
- The examination phase. We’ll also perform a comprehensive physical exam where we will gently and carefully get to the root of what’s causing your discomfort.
- The imaging reviews. Our team will order as many imaging studies as needed to trace the origins of your pain. We also take the extra time to explain the details of your test results, treatment options and potential outcomes.
- Your personalized pain plan. These are individualized pain programs, not just quick fixes. Our advanced, relief-focused remedies are comprehensive, well-researched and tailored just for you.
To ensure we’re able to provide you the highest quality experience, please keep the following tips in mind:
Your initial appointment may last up to 45 minutes
Please arrive early.
Remember to bring a list of all your current medications
Include all prescriptions, over the counter medications and vitamins along with your current doses.
Write out a list of questions for your doctor
Anything that relates to your particular condition is worth discussing with your physician. We’re here to listen.
Bring a family member or caregiver to the appointment
Having someone you trust not only puts you at ease, it also helps to have another person listening to the doctor, asking questions and helping get you home safely.
Get a copy of reports or image files from any CTs and MRIs you’ve had
If you’ve had tests run or documentation from past treatments you’ve tried, bring them along if they haven’t already been sent over.
