Sauman A. Rafii, M.D.
Dr. Rafii is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. His academic journey started with a combined six-year Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) program through Kent State University and the Northeast Ohio Medical University. He then went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at New York University, which is consistently ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top hospitals in the nation.
Next came a Pain Medicine fellowship at New York University’s Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain, a program the American Pain Society has awarded its coveted Center of Excellence designation.
Today, Dr. Rafii is a member of the Spine Intervention Society (SIS) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). His interests within the field of Pain Medicine include interventional spine procedures, neuromodulation and the benefits of mindfulness-based meditation in the reduction of chronic pain. He is a firm believer that chronic pain management requires a multidisciplinary approach.
Most importantly, Dr. Rafii believes in improving function and quality of life while making a positive impact on each patient he encounters.
In his spare time, Dr. Rafii enjoys being outdoors, playing soccer and watching Ohio State football. Go Buckeyes!
